Nona Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training
Mindfulness-based Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training
Coming Soon! Please contact Erica with questions or join the email list above.
In the Nona Prenatal Yoga course, yoga poses are taught as a method of embodying mindfulness strategies for being with pain and for working with symptoms of anxiety and fear.
Yoga poses for a 6-week yoga and support series are extremely gentle and accessible to all body types and experience levels and therefore can be taught by therapists, doulas, clinicians, childbirth educators as well as yoga teachers. Trainees will also learn to sequence regular prenatal yoga classes and modify poses as needed.
This training is appropriate for anyone who would like to provide a holistic framework for addressing the emotional, cognitive, and physical needs surrounding pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.
In order to facilitate intimate and meaningful discussions, participants will take a deep dive into the emotional world of the childbearing year while learning essential skills for holding space with non-judgment and compassion.
In the Nona Prenatal Yoga teacher training, instructors will learn:
to facilitate intimate and meaningful themed discussions about pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum.
to teach prenatal yoga as a method of embodying mindfulness strategies for coping with labor, birth, and postpartum adjustment.
to sequence yoga poses for pregnant and postpartum bodies
the anatomy and physiology of pregnant and postpartum bodies.
to conceptualize pain in a holistic way so that instructors can teach skills for managing pain emotionally, cognitively, and physically
to address common physical discomforts of pregnancy and postpartum recovery
to guide mindfulness meditations and deep relaxation
to develop your own mindfulness practice
to educate about the emotional, physical, and cognitive aspects of labor, birth, and postpartum.
to educate about the hormonal physiology of childbirth and how mindfulness can mediate fear and anxiety
to facilitate and encourage mindfulness practices
to use trauma-informed and inclusive language for cueing poses as well as during discussion.
to educate about how Polyvagal theory explains the benefits of mindfulness and yoga in childbirth.
To accomplish these objectives, the training will be grounded in a mindfulness-based childbirth education curriculum with an emphasis on addressing our own biases with compassion and non-judgment so that teachers are less likely to reinforce oppressive systems while facilitating discussions and providing education.
Therapists, childbirth educators, doulas, and yoga instructors will find that facilitating these classes will help to fill their practice/classes while also providing parents with invaluable tools and ongoing community support and friendships.
The Nona Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training is an evidence-based, in-depth study of the cognitive, emotional, and physical adjustments of the childbearing year.
